Delightful Lighting
Lighting: it is needed in every room and yet many do not think about it when decorating a room.
There are three different types of lighting. They are general, task and ambient.
General lighting includes ceiling fixtures and large lighting like floor lamps.
When choosing general lighting for a room, the size of the fixture does matter especially when choosing a chandelier or ceiling fan. Make sure you do not choose one that is too big for the room or too small. An easy way to choose the size of a chandelier is to measure the length and width of a room and add the feet together. A room that is 12’ x 15’ would need a chandelier with the width of 27”. (Just change the feet of the room to inches.)
The second type of lighting is task lighting. As it is self explanatory, task lighting would include a reading lamp next to your favorite chair or a desk lamp so letter writing is more enjoyable. Make sure it is tall enough to be utilized and short enough that the light bulb is not seen when standing in the room.
Finally, ambient lighting is used for “mood”. These can be beautiful table lamps that give off soft lighting in the corner of a room or wall sconces that bring a shine to otherwise dark walls in the evening.
Mixing and matching of different lighting fixtures in each room will add a level of decorating that most lack.
