FRESHENING AND UPDATING
YOUR HOME
Are you
trying to freshen up your home?
Make it different and updated?
Well, how about the trim in your house? Is it old and dingy looking?
Painting your trim may be a great option for you.
If you choose to paint the trim in your home, here are the steps to take.
First, wipe
down the trim with a damp cloth, then prime the wood. The primer will cause all
nail holes and spaces between the trim and the wall to show up (if your trim is
wood stained).
Next, caulk the nail holes and portions where there is a space between the wall
and the trim.
Finally,
use the color paint that you choose for your trim.
Using good primer, paint and brush will make this job so much easier.
If you don't know how to caulk, it is easy to learn.
• Spread the caulk where you need it
• Push it into the holes or cracks you are
filling with your finger
• Wipe the excess with a damp rag.
It sounds easy, but it does take practice to do it well. If you wipe too
much caulk off, you will have to refill the space. If you don't wipe
enough off, you will have to sand the area smooth again.
Helpful hint:
Begin in a room where "learning" how to caulk won't be
noticed by all.
