Family Fun Ideas

For the whole family!

Make red, white, and pink hearts in different sizes. Write verses or poems on them that have to do with love and friendship. On a larger heart write a short message from you and/or your family. Go to the home of a friend or neighbor when they are not at home. Tape the hearts all over their front door. On the doorknob, hang a gift bag filled with homemade or purchased treats. (Idea taken from www.FamilyFun.com)

Ask each member of your family what his/her favorite pie or dessert is. Make or buy it for them. Set the dinner table as elegantly as possible. Put the whole dessert on their plate as the first course. Let them eat as much a they like. Then, continue with the rest of the meal.

Hide treats all over the house and let the children find them.

Have family members write notes to one another, each person telling the others what they love about them. (You will have to write it for the little ones.)

Make a goodie-bag for neighbors or co-workers. Include a Bible in the bag. Underline scriptures that tell of God’s love.

Have everyone think of something nice they can do for someone they do not necessarily like or get along with. They could give the person a gift, make a card, make homemade goodies, or serve them in some way.

Put the name of each family member in a hat. Have each family member pick a name out of the hat. Each person gets to serve his chosen family member by doing whatever chore or service that member requests. (A person’s request cannot be the chore he is supposed to do for the person whose name he picked.)

Serve at a homeless shelter.

Ask each family member to pray about giving something away that they “love” to whoever the Lord tells them to give it to.

Make it a heart-shaped day. Together, make heart-shaped pancakes or eggs for breakfast; serve with heart-shaped toast. Don’t forget the strawberries and whipped cream! Make heart-shaped sandwiches for lunch. Make and decorate a heart-shaped cake. Decorate it with hearts and pink frosting. Make heart-shaped cookies &/or candies. Make spaghetti and heart-shaped meatballs for dinner (or something else that will continue the red theme).

For couples!

Create your own “at-home” spa.

Make it a night where you join him in doing things he thoroughly enjoys (even if you don’t necessarily like it). Go to eat where he likes to go or make what he likes to eat.

Write him love notes and leave them everywhere…in his drawers, his pockets, his breakfast, his lunch, in the refrigerator, the car, on the toilet, the bathroom mirror, the door, and any other place you can think of.

With your money, book a night at a hotel. When he leaves for work, give him a note as to when and where he should meet you – or email, text, or call him during the day to notify him.

Surprise him by taking a massage class. You can become his personal masseuse!

Make a booklet of heart-shaped “coupons,” with services you will perform for your husband when he “redeems” them. For example: “This coupon entitles you to…” – a night out with the guys; get out of a fight free; eat in front of the TV; my willing services to mow the lawn; wash and wax your car; etc.

Make a CD with your favorite love songs on it and set the mood for listening to it and loving on him.
