FUN WITH THE FAMILY AT HOME







• Plan a reading time. Lay out blankets on the floor. Put out snacks. Let everyone choose a book to read and have fun  OR  pick a book and read it to your family or take turns reading to one another.

• Plan a pizza night. Be creative with the pizzas you make and let everyone make their own pizza.

• Create a bistro dining experience at home, inside or out.

• Throw a Hawaiian luau party. Decorate with a Hawaiian theme and have everyone dress like they are in Hawaii. You may invite other family and friends, too. (You may use nay theme you want.)

• Plan a movie night at home. Pick a family-oriented movie. Prepare an easy meal and be sure to make popcorn.

• Have a game night. Play board games, cards and other fun games. Be sure to have plenty of snacks on hand.

• Play tag in the snow.

• Have a dance contest. Let each person choose their music to dance to.

• Cook a meal together. Let each member of the family participate in creating and making the meal.

• Have an arts and crafts night where each person makes their own work of art. Display them somewhere in the house for a while.

• Have your own American Idol night. Let each member perform while the others judge.

• Have a Karaoke night.

• Watch family videos or look at pictures, old & new. Reminisce about what took place in the pictures.

• Volunteer to help others in need as a family. It may be at a nursing home, soup kitchen or to be kind to a neighbor.

• Camp out in the basement or family room as a family. If you have a fireplace, cook hot dogs and S’mores over the fire.

If you live where it is cold, try some fun outdoor snow activities.

• Go sledding, tobogganing, or tubing.
• Go ice skating.
• Make snow forts.
• Make snowmen and angels in the snow.
• Have sledding or running races in the snow.
• If there is a lot of snow, make a big mound and smooth it out the best you can. Slide down it.
• Walk through the forest.
• Play broom hockey with a broom and tennis ball on some ice, skates are not required.
• Have a contest to see who can slide the farthest on their belly on the ice.
• Follow animal tracks in the snow.
• Have a snow tug of war.
• Use jumbo garbage bags to sled without a sled.
• Shovel people’s drive and sidewalk for free.
• Wipe the snow off of cars in a shopping center parking lot.
• Make a snow obstacle course.
• Go cross country skiing.


Inside there is a lot to do too!!!!

• Play cards.
• Play games.
• Watch movies.
• Put on a fire in the fireplace, make s’mores and read or tell stories.
• Make meals for yourselves or for others.
• Bake for yourselves or for others.
• Write letters or send cards to service men and women.
• Write letters or send cards to friends, relatives, neighbors, people who live alone, an elderly couple…..
• Do work around the house together.
• Do crafts and give them away as gifts.
• Make popcorn and/or caramel corn.
• Have a picnic in the house.
• Make homemade ice cream.
• Have a scavenger hunt in the house using the letters of the alphabet.
• Make homemade Play-Doh and make sculptures with it.
• Look through photo albums and watch home videos.
• Take out your wedding video and watch it with your children.
• Work on crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
• Sing together with a CD or an instrument.
• Make puppets and put on a puppet show.
• Make homemade pizza.
• Play charades.
• Pray together.
