Pride Wears Many Masks
PRIDE * Looks out for self, self-centered * Denies truth. No self-disclosure. Careful about what we let others know. * Rooted in fear. (Worrying about self) * Isolates us. * Has all the answers: critical/judgmental * Impatient * Focused on self-preservation/ protection * Cannot admit wrong and apologize * Holds on to grudges/offenses * Never has enough; deserves better * Keeps people in bondage * Stands on its feet
HUMILITY
* Looks out for others, others-centered * Embraces truth. Authentic self-disclosure * Rooted in peace. (Trusting God) * Unites us with true intimacy * Teachable, approachable * Patient * Rests in God’s care and protection * Admits wrong and apologizes * Forgives * Grateful; accepts God’s provision * Frees people from bondage * Bends its knees
1 Peter 5:5-6
All of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.
