Wedding Priorities

Prioritize!!!

What is important to you???

Both of you should make a list of what is important to you on an individual basis and then compare notes.  Afterward, combine and determine from most important (#1) to least important #18).  This will help you in budgeting and designating where you may want to spend more money and areas you can “borrow” from to appropriate in the area that has top priority.  There is no “right” or “wrong” – it’s all about your personal taste and the wedding you desire.

Traditionally the bride’s family would assume most of the wedding costs.  Today, with the average wedding costing over $25,000 the trend has changed to include the bride and groom as well as both sets of parents.

Many couples with a professional status pay for their weddings without assistance from parents or family.  Often, parents of these couples may offer to contribute to a portion of the wedding (flowers, photography, wedding cake, etc).

Regardless of who is paying for the wedding, base the budget on what is affordable.  And always, allow budgeting to include last minute expenses and tipping for extraordinary service.
